
CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - A major accident in Caddo Parish sends one person to the hospital by helicopter Friday afternoon.
That accident happened on Highway 71 in Caddo Parish after 1 p.m.
KSLA News 12 has learned that an 18 wheeler traveling southbound on Hwy. 71 was at the top of a hill, when a Volkswagen traveling northbound crossed into the path of the 18 wheeler.
Caddo Parish Sheriff's deputies working the crash say that the two vehicles hit at the front left side. The driver of the Volkswagen was airlifted to LSU Hospital with serious injuries.
At this time, the Louisiana Department of Transportation is at the scene of the crash laying sand from where the 18 wheeler leaked diesel fuel.
Deputies have temporarily shutdown Hwy. 71 to traffic while crews work to clear the scene. No word as to when Hwy. 71 will be reopened to traffic.
