DESOTO PARISH, LA (KSLA) – Chesapeake Energy has released the names of the deceased and injured workers from Wednesday’s gas well blowout in DeSoto Parish.
The man killed in the explosion was 58-year-old James Dennis of Bullard, TX. 30-year-old Jimmy Siler, also of Bullard, TX, was last listed in critical but stable condition. Both workers were contracted to Dynasty Transportation, LLC of Broussard, Louisiana.
According to a press release from Chesapeake, work continued during the night to prepare the well site so crews could bring the escaping gas under control. The company is working with well control specialists from Boots & Coots International Well Control.
Chesapeake also says the number of evacuated homes due to the well blast remains at 15. The company has put several families up at the Clarion Hotel in Shreveport.
Because of air quality concerns in the area, authorities have closed a part of LA Hwy. 3015. It’s not known how long the road will be closed.
