Construction worker rescued after being buried alive

Posted: Updated:

HEMPSTEAD COUNTY, AR (KSLA) – A construction worker is giving thanks for an afternoon rescue, after getting buried alive while he was trapped in a ditch.

It happened at the intersection of Highway 32 and Hempstead County Road 26.

We're told four workers with Bobo and Bain Construction were digging with heavy equipment when the dirt collapsed.

Thirty-nine year-old Casey Jones of Hope, AR, was rescued after about 30 minutes of co-workers and emergency responders shoveling him out.

Jones walked out of the trench on his own and was taken to a Texarkana Hospital.

Crews from Crossroads, Perry Town, Pafford EMS and employees of Funder America, all helped with the rescue.
