TEXARKANA, AR (KSLA) – A 6,000 lb. statue along with many Arkansas firefighters filled Texarkana, Arkansas streets Saturday to honor fallen firefighters across Arkansas.
The Arkansas Fallen Firefighter Memorial statue made its way through Texarkana, Arkansas during a special parade Saturday.
The statue, according to officials, was built to honor firefighters in Arkansas killed in the line of duty.
An estimated 30 fire trucks followed behind the memorial statue as it made its way to its next stop, Little Rock, Arkansas to be put up as a memorial fountain at the State Capitol building.
Firefighters from Miller County, Bowie County, Wake Village, Nash and Texarkana, Texas Fire Departments were at the celebration parade.
Memorial officials say the purpose of the statue traveling throughout the state of Arkansas is to raise awareness on fire deaths in Arkansas and to raise funds for the Fallen Firefighter Memorial fund.
