Texarkana man face Capital Murder charge in baby’s death

TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) – A Texarkana man now faces a capital murder charge for the death of his girlfriend’s baby.

According to Texarkana, Texas Police, David Reece was arrested Thursday in connection to the death of six-month-old Johnny Gullate.

Texas Child Protective Services reportedly called Texarkana, Texas police after reports of the infant being air lifted to Little Rock Children’s Hospital from Texarkana unconscious and unresponsive.

During an investigation, police determined that Reece was responsible for causing serious bodily injury to the child.

Police learned that Reece was allegedly watching the child while the mother went to the store. The mother reportedly came back home to find the baby unconscious and unresponsive.

Authorities say six-month-old Gullate died as a result of his injuries two days later.

David Dewayne Reece is now in the Bi-State Jail facing a capital murder charge.
