SHREVEPORT, LA (AP) - Two Shreveport apartment complexes, two in Lafayette and one in West Monroe must pay to make themselves accessible to disabled people in a settlement of a federal anti-discrimination lawsuit.
A news release from the Justice Department says the businesses are among 11 multifamily housing complexes in the South named in the complaint that was originally filed in Memphis, where four of the complexes are located. Another is in Gulf Shores, Ala.; and another is in Tyler, Texas.
Under the settlement, which must still be approved by a federal court in Tennessee, 11 defendants will pay all costs related to making the complexes accessible to those with disabilities.
