HAUGHTON, LA (KSLA) - First the planning commission, then bad weather, but after a couple of delays the giant cross is now up in Haughton.
Central Assembly of God's 199' tall cross has been in the works for nearly a year.
It's actually just one foot short of requiring red lights for air traffic safety.
Its height caused some controversy early on, since structures in rural areas of Bossier Parish can't be taller than 45 feet.
The planning commission made an exception for this church cross back in March.
