Three weeks of flooded streets in Uncertain, Tx

UNCERTAIN, TX (KSLA) - Caddo Lake flooding has left the streets and roads in Uncertain Texas completely impassable, in fact the water is up to the knees, in some areas it's up to your waist. It has left a lot of residents on Sesame Street frustrated, and they're asking how you get to Sesame Street? The answer: through a lot of water.

We begin a two mile trek through water just to meet our interviews on Sesame Street, on the way we looked for alligators, a very real threat as we wade through several inches, then a couple of feet of water.

"It's scary, it's very scary," said Trish Fife a resident there.

 She says three weeks of being trapped by all this water has taken a heavy toll.

"My truck broke down because of the water, then i lost my job and my kid couldn't go to school for a week," said Fife.

She and her neighbors knew of the potential for flooding when they moved there, but three weeks is a long time to tread through water that comes up to the front door of the home.

"I think the thing that bothers us the most is the fact that we have been like this for so long," said Trish. "We haven't had any outreach whatsoever," said her friend, Valenda Stanley.

Not every road is under water, but it seems like every way out, you have to cross it at some point.

"I'm sick of it," said Joel Moore.

The trip out involves wading through water, walking on land, then water, then land again.

"Loading the boat back up, hoping you don't tip it over with all your stuff because you can't transport a whole lot," said Fife.

"It's a mess, of course there's nothing you can do about it," said Moore.

But people who live on Sesame Street make the best of it, trolling down their roads Venice Italy style, and catching fish in their front yards.
