BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - One of the tornadoes which touched down last week also caused extensive damage throughout Bossier City.

One neighborhood dealt with a double blow from the storm. KSLA News 12 caught up exclusively with the one family as they returned to see what the storm and fire left behind. "You would think that a bomb fell on the house," Sharon Davenport said. Sharon and her son Cody Davenport said they were fine during the tornado. It's what they said after the storm that turned their lives upside down.

"I couldn't believe it---neighbor knocked and said get out our unit is on fire! I grabbed him and ran," she said.

She said he was upstairs in his room where the fire appeared to have started. Now, the only sounds from his room -- traffic from Benton Road.

Everything in their Green Acres town home was destroyed except her son's baptism bible.

"That means a lot? Yes, that means a lot to me," Sharon Davenport said. Sharon said she's always had God on her side and knows the man above will take her and her son through this devastating journey.

"I'm going to do what i always do-I'm a survivor, never a victim. I have to provide for him---we're moving on," she said.

She tells KSLA News 12 with strength and faith---nothing will hold them back. With their home declared a loss the Davenport's have been staying with friends and family.

Yet, they are still very grateful for all the help they've been offered.
