Not only did Michael Jackson's This Is It take the No. 1 domestic box-office spot over the Halloween weekend with $21.3 million, the film also managed to take in a total of $101 million worldwide over its first five days.

The concert film's success prompted distributor Sony to extend the film's run beyond its original two-week domestic run to at least Thanksgiving. This Is It raised $32.5 million domestically and $68.5 million abroad since its premiere on Wednesday.

Taking the No. 2 spot was the horror flick Paranormal Activity, which earned $16.5 million, bringing its 38-day total to $84.8 million. The other major horror release, Saw VI, fell 61 percent to the No. 5 spot, taking in a mere $5.6 million over the Halloween weekend.

Also taking a huge tumble: Where the Wild Things Are, dropping 64 percent to No. 6 with $5.1 million, as well as Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant (No. 10; $2.8 million) and Astro Boy (No. 8; $3 million), both dipping about 55 percent in their second weekend.

Rounding out the top 10: Law Abiding Citizen (No. 3; $7.3 million), Couples Retreat (No. 4; $6 million), The Stepfather (No. 7; $3.4 million) and Amelia (No. 9; $3 million). --  Gina DiNunno
