Police say Brownsville museum director murdered

Associated Press - October 24, 2009 11:26 PM ET

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) - Police are investigating the murder of the 59-year-old executive director of the Brownsville Museum of Fine Art.

The Brownsville Herald reports that around 1 p.m. Saturday a museum employee said he found Barry T. Horn dead at his home.

Brownsville Police spokesman Sgt. Jimmy Manrrique says they are working the case at "a very high speed." The spokesman said the investigation is still in its early stages, but detectives are trying to track down a person of interest and determine the role he may have played.

A statement Saturday from museum officials said they were "shocked and devastated" by Horn's death. Trustees held an emergency meeting in which it was decided that its annual gala would go on as planned for Saturday evening.
