NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A New Orleans attorney has been appointed to temporarily fill a vacancy in Orleans Parish Civil District Court.
Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Bernette J. Johnson on Tuesday announced the appointment of James M. Williams as judge pro tempore to fill the seat left vacant by the resignation of Judge Nadine M. Ramsey. He will serve in the court's section "J" through March 30, or until an election is held.
Williams, currently a partner in the law firm Gauthier, Houghtaling & Williams, practices in the area of civil litigation with a concentration on catastrophic personal injury and business litigation.
He's also served as an adjunct professor at Tulane University and president of the Greater New Orleans Louis A. Martinet Legal Society Inc. He currently serves on the board of directors of the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce and the New Orleans Bar Association.
