SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -  After eighteen film festivals, screenings in Malaysia, The Bahamas, Canada, and from Oregon to New York, ‘The Last Lullaby' has come home to Shreveport for its DVD World Premiere.

Shreveport Director Jeffrey Goodman launched the World Premiere of the ‘The Last Lullaby' DVD at Giuseppe's on Saturday, singing hundreds of limited edition copies of the movie and sharing his thoughts and experiences on the state of the local film industry.

Locally filmed and financed, the full-length feature film is co-written by the director of 'The Road to Perdition' and stars Tom Sizemore  ('Saving Private Ryan,' 'Blackhawk Down,' and Sasha Alexander ('Yes Man,' 'He's Just Not That Into You,' "NCIS').  "I tell people it's about a hitman and librarian who form this unusual bond with one another," Goodman has said.

'Lullaby' recently capped a ten-week run in theaters across the country and was the independent film with the second highest per-screen-average in all of North America the weekend it opened at the Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier City.

The first run, limited edition DVD will be available for sale, beginning Monday, October 19th off the film's website (www.thelastlullaby.com).

The DVD starts at $20, but Goodman says he's running social media promotions on Facebook and Twitter, offering discounts for friends and members of the film's fan page.  In fact, Goodman says, the social sites and e-mail updates have proven to be a valuable and cost-effective tool for getting the word out about the project.  "It's been amazing for me, you know the funny thing about Facebook or Twitter is that, even though I don't hear back from people, they're aware of what's going on with me. You know, we're grass roots, we're independent, we're low budget.  We don't have the Hollywood studio budget to market and promote ourselves, but we've done a pretty amazing job, and a lot of it is due to the social networking sites."

No slouch at the art of marketing and promotion, Goodman has also set up a drawing for all those who buy the DVD during its first month in release.  Winners will take home film-related prizes, including several items from the set and wardrobe items worn by the actors.  Tom Sizemore's chess set and main outfit from the movie, for instance, and Sasha Alexander's hooded jacket.  There's also a guaranteed extra role in his next movie up for grabs.

The next project is a film called Peril.   He is working once again with ‘Lullaby' writer Peter Biegen.  Peril is still in development, but Goodman says he's hoping to do it much the same way as ‘Lullaby.' "Shoot it locally, finance it locally.  I'm going to start meeting with investors in the next four to six weeks. So, I still have a few things I want to do with ‘The Last Lullaby.'

Now that it's headed for release on DVD, Goodman says he's looking for a place for it on cable and in major retail outlets like Wal Mart and Best Buys, and get it into the rental realm with Netflix and Blockbuster.  All are the final stages of a project more than three years in the making, akin to putting ‘Lullaby' to bed.  "After that I'll feel like I've done everything I need to do to give my baby a nice home and to be able to move on to my next project."
