BOSSIER CITY, La. (AP) - A 41-year-old man died after falling into Red River from the first level of DiamondJacks Casino & Resort in Bossier City.

Police say Johnny Marc Williams of Iowa (EYE'-oh-way), La., a casino employee, was on the first level of the boat where he unlocked and opened an access door on the vessel's west side and accidentally fell into the river from height of approximately 10 feet. Police along with Bossier City Fire Department personnel were called to the scene after casino personnel heard Williams fall into the river.

Casino personnel attempted to rescue Williams man by throwing a life preserver to him but he was unable to get a hold of it before going under water.

Police say the man's body was recovered 40 minutes later.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
