CASS , Ark. (AP) - There won't be an Ole Applegate Arts and Crafts Festival this year, but organizers are promising an improved version in 2010.
The festival moved from Benton County to Mulberry Mountain near Ozark three years ago. Organizers say construction on Scenic Highway 23 - the Pig Trail - is the reason for calling off this year's edition.
When the festival reopens in 2010, organizers say it will drop the Ole Applegate name. The new name - Mulberry Mountain Fine Arts and Crafts Festival - will draw attention to improved quality. Organizers say only fine-art items made by the vendors themselves will be allowed.
