ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - Separate cases of animal cruelty in Rapides and Assumption parishes have resulted in arrests.
A Pineville man, 27-year-old Dale Sanders Jr., was booked with one count of animal cruelty in Rapides, where authorities on Tuesday confiscated horses they said were malnourished.
Also Tuesday, in Labadieville, two Assumption Parish residents were arrested on animal-cruelty charges. Sheriff Mike Waguespack said deputies found eight horses with protruding ribs and bony hindquarters at a Labadieville home. Sixty-1-year-old Anthony Berthelot and 44-year-old Celeste Cook were booked with animal cruelty.
