NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A former Louisiana prosecutor has pleaded guilty to a criminal charge stemming from a threatening letter he allegedly sent to a motorist after a near-accident on a highway in Mississippi.
Perry Booth IV, a former assistant district attorney for Jefferson Parish, is accused of copying down the license plate of a car that he nearly collided with on Interstate 10 near Gulfport, Miss., in June 2008.
Federal prosecutors say Booth later obtained the other driver's name and address from a colleague.
Booth allegedly sent a threatening letter to the other driver's home in Metairie that mentioned the near-collision.
The 44-year-old Gretna resident faces a maximum sentence of 1 year in prison following his guilty plea Tuesday to unauthorized access to information by use of a computer.
