NEW YORK (AP) - A sophomore cadet at the State University of New York Maritime College was crushed to death while changing the oil in his vehicle on the school's campus parking lot.
School officials say 20-year-old Benjamin Bragg, of Mandeville, La., was taken by ambulance to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx after the Friday accident, but efforts to save him were unsuccessful.
School officials released a statement saying they were deeply saddened by the tragic loss.
SUNY Maritime is a 4-year college in Throgs Neck that prepares students for careers in the maritime and private industry, government and military.
