La. lawmaker Gallot's ethics charges dismissed

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A panel of administrative law judges has dismissed ethics charges against a north Louisiana lawmaker.

The state Board of Ethics filed seven conflict-of-interest charges against Rep. Rick Gallot involving his legal representation of a company in business dealings with Grambling State University and the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors, on which Gallot's mother serves.

But the legal panel that oversaw those charges released a ruling Friday saying charges against the Ruston Democrat should be dismissed.

Gallot had argued that the charges were not filed in time.
