BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu is giving up a weekend in Louisiana so she can attend the funeral for fellow Sen. Edward Kennedy.
The Louisiana Democrat attended a meeting at the Governor's Mansion in Baton Rouge on Friday with Gov. Bobby Jindal and some of the state's Republican congressmen: Rodney Alexander of Quitman; Joseph Cao of New Orleans; John Fleming of Minden and Steve Scalise of Metairie.
Landrieu said she had planned to spend the entire weekend in Louisiana, but left to catch a plane to Boston, so she can attend Kennedy's funeral Saturday morning.
