GUEYDAN, La. (AP) - Honk! Quack! Woof! Bang! It's time for the Gueydan (gay-dahn) Duck Festival.

The festival runs Thursday through Sunday, and includes dog trials, skeet shooting and the local and state duck and goose calling contests as well as the usual music, parade and pageants.

It's been voted the Louisiana Association Fair and Festival Division III Festival of the Year for three years in a row, and for 4 of the past five years.

It competes against 65 other festivals in Division III, for those drawing at most 25,000 people.

Festival president Ronnie Lougon says people come from as far as Canada for the festival. People began parking campers in Duck Festival Park on Monday - and officials said all 52 hookups were rented.
