SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - The filming of a major motion picture in Shreveport will keep part of I-49 closed for a month.
"Battle: Los Angeles" will begin filming in Shreveport during the first week of September. Because of the movie shoot, the city has closed the I-49 south overpass at Murphy Street. That section of interstate will remain closed from Monday, August 24 until Monday, September 28.
A detour will take drivers to the Lakeshore/I-20 westbound on-ramp. Drivers will stay on the frontage road to Lakeshore Drive, turn left under I-20, then turn left again onto the eastbound frontage road. This will lead drivers to the southbound I-49 on-ramp.
The city will have numerous construction and detour signs along the route to help drivers.
According to the city of Shreveport's website, "Battle: Los Angeles" is a science-fiction film about a marine platoon fighting off an alien invasion taking place in California. The movie stars Aaron Eckhart, who played the character Two-Face in the latest Batman film.
Producers have said this will be the most action-packed movie to ever come out of Shreveport-Bossier.
