HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Entergy Arkansas says the winter drawdown of Lakes Hamilton and Catherine near Hot Springs will begin on Nov. 7.
The electric utility, which owns and manages the lakes, said in a news release that the drawdown would continue until Nov. 15, when the levels of both lakes should be five feet lower than their summertime levels. The release said the lakes will drop from 5 to 8 inches per day.
Entergy said the annual drawdown helps with maintenance of the lakes' shorelines, and also helps control nuisance vegetation in the water. The lakes will be returned to their normal summertime levels in early March.
