LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Transit systems at Fort Smith, Hot Springs and the University of Arkansas flagship campus at Fayetteville will share in nearly $4 million in federal stimulus funding.
Fort Smith Transit Superintendent Lori Carrhe had not heard about the grants Friday.
She said there will be a lot of paperwork and that bidding to purchase the buses will be tedious, but "it's going to be well worth it once it's done."
Federal officials announced Friday that Fort Smith would get $1.8 million in stimulus funding, Hot Springs would get $774,481, and the university's transit system will get $1.3 million.
