GILMER, Texas (AP) - Three people were treated and released from East Texas hospitals after a SUV crashed into a church in Gilmer just as morning services were about to start.
Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Kenneth Nolley told the Tyler Courier Times Telegraph that the driver of the SUV crashed her SUV into and through the auditorium of the rural Zion Hill Baptist Church Sunday morning. Nolley said 66-year-old Esther Lynn Hale, of Gilmer, indicated she hit the gas instead of the brake. She was not injured.
A hospital admitting coordinator said two girls had been treated and released from East Texas Medical Center in Gilmer.
A nursing supervisor at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview said a man had been released from its emergency room.
Gilmer is located 35 miles northeast of Tyler.
