JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) - Former Arkansas tennis standout Blake Strode captured the title in the ITF tour's USA F18 Futures tournament Sunday with a 6-1, 6-3 win over former Tulsa standout Arnau Brugues.
Strode's match Sunday was his third appearance in the finals of an ITF tourney since he turned pro this spring.
Brugues was seeded fifth for the Joplin tourney, in which Strode was unseeded. To reach the finals, Strode defeated No. 6 seed Matej Bocko on Saturday, 6-2, 6-4.
