
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -Shreveport Police detectives are investigating a shooting that sent a local woman to the hospital Saturday morning.
Police say around 11:30 a.m. officers were called out to the Westwood Village Apts., located in the 6700 of Rasberry Ln. for an alleged shooting.
Officers arrived to find 23-year-old Mahoganey Hamilton with a gunshot wound to the torso.
Hamilton told police she had accidentally shot herself while trying to unload a gun. She was taken to LSU Hospital with what police describe as life threatening injuries.
Friday afternoon, police say they were called out to that same residence for a domestic call.
Police say the other person in the apartment, 23-year-old Cartez Buris was charged with one count of domestic abuse battery.
At this time, police are investigating to determine whether the two incidents are related.
