MANY, La. (AP) - Five state agencies are under one roof and directed to work together in Many, the first city to get what the state calls a Neighborhood Place.
The program brings together the departments of Social Services, Health and Hospitals, Education, the Louisiana Workforce Commission and the Office of Juvenile Justice.
It will be run by a council made up of clients and community members from Sabine Parish. Social Services Secretary Kristy Nichols says the parish will be a model for providing better, more accessible services that affect people's lives.
Gov. Bobby Jindal signed the law creating such multi-agency centers last year.
The first one opened Monday in Many, on the SPARK school campus. Another is expected to open in weeks on the campus of Zwolle High School.
