OMV employee accused of pocketing money

Associated Press - June 24, 2009 5:44 AM ET

DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (AP) - An Office of Motor Vehicles employee has been arrested on charges she pocketed money from customers trying to renew their driver's licenses.

Fifty-5-year-old Deborah Seals, of Baton Rouge, was booked Tuesday into a Livingston Parish jail on one count of malfeasance in office and 20 counts of filing false public records.

Seals was the assistant manager of the OMV office in Denham Springs.

The Louisiana State Police says an internal OMV audit revealed that she took money from applicants who weren't eligible to receive driver's licenses.
