FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is holding its annual shareholders meeting in Fayetteville, where the company will put on display its successes from the past year and lay groundwork for the year ahead.
Hosting the Friday meeting is actor Ben Stiller. This year's American Idol winner Kris Allen is to perform. Latin Music Awards winner Paulina Rubio was among the early performers.
Wal-Mart has been picking up market share during the recession as strapped consumers have been trying to stretch their dollars. The company says it has positioned itself to hold onto those shoppers when the economy improves.
Analysts are eager to hear from executives how the world's largest retailer plans to keep those new customers and keep driving growth.
