TOLEDO BEND RESERVOIR, La. (AP) - Sabine Parish Deputy Coroner Ron Rivers says the body of a man who drowned during a family outing has been recovered from Toledo Bend Reservoir.
A boater spotted Tommy Gene Rogers' body Tuesday morning in a cove between Cypress Bend Park and Cypress Bend Resort. It was recovered by State Wildlife and Fisheries agents.
Teams had been searching for Rogers since Friday, when an inner tube flipped, dumping him and a girl into the water. Rivers says Rogers' wife saved the girl, but Rogers went under. He says the girl wore a life vest, but Rogers did not.
On Sunday, a 46-year-old Colfax man drowned on Cane River Lake near Melrose.
Officials say Charles Washington Sr. had been fishing on the bank. Divers found his body in 20 feet of water.
