Man drowns saving boy in Natchitoches Parish

Posted: Updated:

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A day of fishing turned tragic Sunday when an Ark-La-Tex man jumped into the Cane River in Natchitoches Parish, to rescue a boy who had fallen in.

But, authorities say after helping save the boy, 46-year-old Charles Washington of Colfax, Louisiana went under and never re-surfaced.

Divers found Washington's body a few hours later.

His body has been sent to LSU for an autopsy.

This is the second drowning to happen in the Ark-La-Tex this weekend.
