BARTLETT, Tenn. (AP) - A west Tennessee man has been arrested and charged with the death of his wife, who was originally from Searcy.
Authorities found 26-year-old Micah Denise Pate's body near the Loosahatchie River in Brunswick on Friday night.
Bartlett police charged Thomas Pate with second degree-murder Saturday. He is being held in Bartlett City Jail.
After initially reporting his wife missing, Thomas Pate talked with his father and with investigators. He told police he shot his wife in the head and had thrown the pistol into the river. He led police to the body.
Thomas Pate pleaded not guilty on Monday in Bartlett City Court on Monday. He was released on $250,000 bond.
Micah Thomas was the daughter of Dennis and Terri Rine. She was a Harding Academy graduate where her father, is the baseball coach, counselor and teacher. Her mother taught at Harding University for years, and Micah Thomas graduated from that school in 2006.
