NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) - A Natchitoches mobile home fire has claimed the life of a 2-year-old toddler.
The State Fire Marshal's Office says Christopher Alexander perished in Sunday's fire.
Officials say the boy, two other children and the children's father, Wayman Alexander, were home at the time of the fire.
Authorities say Wayman Alexander was alerted to the fire by 1 of the children, and after getting 2 of the children out, was unable to go back inside due to the intensity of the fire. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries while trying to go back inside to rescue the toddler.
Investigators have determined that the fire started in the bedroom where the boy's remains were found. The cause of the fire hasn't yet been determined, and the investigation continues.
