Suspect sought for shooting at Sonic Drive-In

WEBSTER PARISH, LA (KSLA) - Springhill Police have an arrest warrant out for a 23-year-old Webster Parish man they say shot ant killed another man Sunday evening at a Springhill restaurant.

Police say the shooting happened about 6:15 pm at the Sonic Drive-In on S. Arkansas Street.

Police Chief Ronnie Coleman says 23-year-old Darius Nelams of Cullen, LA and 21-year-old Kashif Hicks of Bossier City, LA, went to the restaurant to to allegedly retrieve drug money from a previous drug deal. Coleman says Hicks had told Nealms that the Sonic employee had the drug money.

According to Coleman, at some point the conversation went sour, and Hicks ran to the back of the Sonic with Nelams chasing him. During the chase, Coleman says Nelams shot Hicks. The wounded Hicks ran from the restaurant to a nearby vacant lot where he collapsed and died. Nelams then fled the scene.

Springhill Police have issued an arrest warrant for Nelams, charging him with second-degree murder.
