LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The commission formed to run Arkansas' lottery will hold its first meeting next month.
Gov. Mike Beebe announced Friday that the nine-member Arkansas Lottery Commission will hold its first meeting May 5 at the University of Arkansas System board room in Little Rock.
Beebe this week named his three appointments to the panel, clearing the way for the panel to begin meeting and hiring staff for the state-run games. Voters approved a constitutional amendment last year authorizing the games to raise money for college scholarships, and a new state law puts the lottery under the control of the independent commission.
