Shreveport police investigating 2 shootings on Monday morning

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport police are investigating on Monday morning after two people are injured in two separate shootings.

The first shooting happened at 10 p.m. on Sunday night in the 9200 block of Dean Road. That’s in the Southwood area in Shreveport.

A man was injured while traveling towards Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. He said that someone in a white Chevrolet Impala shot at him with an assault rifle, striking him in the right arm.

Then, the driver in the Impala sped off into the Hillside Apartments parking lot to get away, according to police.

At this time, police have no suspects and have made no arrests in this incident.

Police got the second call just after 4 a.m. to the 6800 block of Pines Road, that's in west Shreveport.

Police say a female victim was just leaving the Waffle House on Financial Plaza and was at the stop light on Pines when she heard gunshots and was struck in the upper back near her shoulder.

Police say that the driver was not struck, but instead was a passenger that was struck twice in the back by gunfire.

The car then took off to the Taco Bell parking lot and called 911.

Police say she was sent to a Shreveport hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Another passenger received first-aid treatment for an arm injury. Other passengers in the vehicle have been taken to Shreveport Police Department for questioning.

Police do not have a description of the shooter in this incident. Multiple shots were heard and and shell casings were found where the shooting happened.

Police have not said if these two incidents are connected at this time.
