WASKOM, TX (KSLA) - A water supply system in Waskom has tested positive for E. coli, according to city officials.

Darrell Robbins, the city’s Public Works Director, says the bacteria was discovered in a water well on Wednesday, but the affected water was not distributed to customers.

The city says residents do not need to boil their water, and the well was taken out of service so additional testing can be performed.

The problem should be resolved next week, according to a public notice.

Residents with concerns can contact Public Works at (903) 687-3374.
