Day care worker arrested for shaking, throwing toddler to the floor

BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - Bossier City Police Department’s Juvenile Unit has arrested and booked a day care worker for cruelty to a juvenile. Personnel at the Epic Learning Center, on Airline Drive informed the parent of the toddler and the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services about the Jan. 7 incident.

The child’s parent contacted the Bossier City Police Department, prompting an investigation.

Investigators found evidence that Patricia Newsome, 61, of Bossier City, picked up and shook the child then threw the child to the floor.

The toddler suffered a bloody nose and busted lip.

Newsome was arrested for one count of cruelty to juveniles and was booked into the Bossier City Jail. No bail has been set.
