BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - Mardi Gras has officially kicked off with the annual 12 Night party at the Bossier City Civic Center. The annual event is a big party where groups come dressed to impress.
Mardi Gras is the annual celebration before the fasting season of Lent, a Catholic season where people honor the sacrifice of Jesus.
Night 12 helps both Shreveport and Bossier City get in the spirit for the big celebration.
“It’s fun, food and family,” Captain of Demeter Hunter Mannies says.
Several groups came out dressed in special themes to celebrate the season.
Krewe of Harambe based their outfits on the African nation of Wakanda, also known as the home of Black Panther, a Marvel Studio’s film.
“We are about to celebrate our 20th anniversary and always have a good time,” Captain Lynn Braggs says.
Event organizers say the annual parade is scheduled for February 23rd.
