SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - The Mardi Gras celebration kicks off this Sunday January 6 at 2pm. Mardi Gras at Louisiana State Museum will host a special exhibit called “The Enchanting World of Fantasy Masks”. The opening reception will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The exhibit will feature the masks of Shreveport’s own mask designer Dennis Beckman. He combines many elements when creating his art, he uses jewels, sequins, crystals, feathers just few to name. Originally from Shreveport, Beckman returns after spending 48 years in San Francisco.
The museum is located at 3015 Greenwood Road. The exhibit is open to the public Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
