FIRST ALERT: Flooding is occurring near several bayous, rivers and lakes

The recent rain is causing flooding along several streams, bayous, rivers and lakes in the ArkLaTex. Even when the rain is gone flooding will continue in these areas.

Several Flood Warnings have been issued by the National Weather Service in Shreveport. These Flood Warnings will likely remain in effect through early next week, at least.

As of 11AM on Thursday, January 3, a Flood Warning had not been issued for the Red River at Shreveport. However, it is above its Action stage of 26.0′. The Red River at Coushatta is expected to remain below its Action Stage.

A Flood Warning is in effect for the Red River at Grand Ecore, LA. The Red River at Grand Ecore is expected to rise above flood stage on Thursday and continue to rise to near 34.5′ by Sunday morning.

Flood Warnings have also been issued for the Sabine River near Beckville, TX and the Sabine River near Logansport, LA.

Minor flooding is already occurring and minor flooding is forecast for the Sabine River near Beckville, TX. The river will continue to rise to near 27.9′ by Sunday morning, then the river will begin falling. Considerable lowland flooding will continue on the reach of the Sabine River from Tatum through Beckville and DeBerry.

Minor flooding is already occurring and minor flooding is forecast for the Sabine River near Logansport, LA. The river will continue to rise to near 30.2′ by Sunday, then the river will begin falling.

Flood Warnings have been issued for Bayou Dorcheat near Springhill, LA, at Dixie Inn, LA and at Lake Bistineau.

Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast for Bayou Dorcheat near Springhill, LA. The bayou will continue to rise to near 16.0′ by early Monday morning, then it will begin falling. There will be extensive lowland flooding of forestry resources.

Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast for Bayou Dorcheat near Dixie Inn, LA. The bayou will continue to rise to near 18.0′ by Monday morning, then it will begin falling. Lowland flooding will continue for several days.

Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast for Bayou Dorcheat at Lake Bistineau, LA. The lake will rise to near 143.5′ by Tuesday morning. Most camps across the lake will begin to flood. Several homes will also face flooding, especially homes that are not stilted.

A Flood Warning is effect for Big Cypress Bayou at Caddo Lake near Mooringsport, LA. Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. The lake is expected to crest at 172.5′ on Saturday. Several secondary roads will become flooded and travel will be difficult, especially in and around Uncertain, TX.
