SPD lays out guidelines for Walk-On’s Independence Bowl

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Before the Temple Owls and the Duke Blue Devils take to the field, the Shreveport Police Department wants to set down some guidelines for the big day.

Because of anticipated crowds and limited parking space, those going to the bowl are urged to use the shuttle service starting at 8:30 a.m. The service will run until one hour after the game is over.

Shuttle pick-up locations include Mall St. Vincent and Pierre Bossier Mall. The cost to ride is $5 for adults and children under the age of 12 ride free. Those who do ride the shuttle are reminded that any items they bring with them must be small enough to fit in a 12" x 12" box.

A limited number of reserved parking spaces at Independence Stadium are available for $25 each, and can be reserved by calling (318) 221-0712, or toll-free at (888) 414-BOWL (2695).

Cash only parking lots will be available around the State Fair Grounds and will be open on game day. Those lots cost $15.

Fans can pre-purchase Blue Lot parking passes for $10 by calling the Bowl Office. It will cost $50 to park buses and RV’s.

Smoking is prohibited inside Independence Stadium. Anyone who needs to smoke can have have their ticket punched and their hand stamped.

The punched ticket stub and that hand stamp will be required for re-entry.
