BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - Bossier Youth Leadership program paid a visit to an ArkLaTex detention center to get an up close lessons about the criminal justice system.
The leadership program is run by the Bossier Chamber of Commerce and partnered with Bossier school district. Students spent part of the day behind the scenes learning from law enforcement personnel inside the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Training Academy, Bossier City Court and Bossier Maximum Security Facility.
The BYL participants had the opportunity talk one-on-one and ask inmates questions. Students experienced eating lunch from the prison cafeteria and learned about establishing limitations after drinking during a simulated drunk driving activity.
The year-long program is for high school juniors who are in good standing in classes and have expressed a desire to be positive leaders in school and their community.
