Cypress Lake and Black Bayou boat ramps closed
With up to six inches of rain in some areas of Bossier Parish, rising water from rains have forced the closure of boat launch ramps.

BOSSIER PARISH, LA (KSLA) - With up to six inches of rain in some areas of Bossier Parish, rising water from rains have forced the closure of boat launch ramps.

The ramps on both Cypress Lake and Black Bayou will be closed. The Cypress Black Bayou Conservation District Board of Commissioners have declared an emergency and closed the lakes this afternoon.

Officials urge landowners around the area to watch rising waters in and around boat houses and low areas. Sandbags are still available for those who need them. Police jury officials will have the jury road department’s maintenance facility at 410 Mayfield St. in Benton open until noon Sunday.

Parish officials say the Red River is still low and water is flowing out of the area through South Bossier. Despite that, many streams and bayous having risen during this rainfall.

Officials warn that Lake Bistineau is expected to crest at 142 feet by next week,residents are urged to check boat houses for impact of high water.

Lake levels will be re-evaluated after the weekend.
