SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - In a 7-4 vote, the allocation of $300,000 towards 15 homes in Shreveport’s Queensborough neighborhood failed.
The commission requires at least eight commissioners to vote in favor of allocating money out of the emergency fund.
District Two Commissioner Lyndon Johnson, was heading this item and says he is highly upset it didn’t pass.
He was raised in the Queensborough neighborhood and says he wanted to help those in need.
Several homeowners mention how violent the storm was on their community.
Many homes are in much needed repair but some people didn’t have insurance.
Commissioners Atkins, Middleton, Dominick and Smith voted against the item and Commissioner Louis Johnson was not present during the vote.
