NATCHITOCHES, LA (KSLA) - One man is dead after an overnight manhunt in Natchitotches Parish.
The original incident happened Tuesday evening just before 7:00 p.m. in the 300 block of G.R. Bardwell Road near Chopin in south Natchitoches Parish, after authorities received a shots fired call.
According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, Blake Joseph Dauzat, 21, shot his father in the hip area. Both the father and the mother were able to drive away to get help.
The father was transported to a local hospital, and is listed in stable condition.
Just after 11:30 p.m., NPSO, the Natchitoches SWAT team, the Louisiana State Police, and the Louisiana State Police Air Support team conducted a manhunt for Dauzat after he possibly fled into the woods, armed with a hand gun.
According to Captain Tony Moran, PIO of the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, Dauzat killed himself after hours of attempted negotiations at the location where the original shooting took place.
He was pronounced dead at approximately 6:45 a.m. Wednesday morning.
On Monday, December 3, 2018, authorities responded to the same address in regards to theft of a computer and a cellphone. Duzaut was also identified as a suspect in that case.
Dauzat’s body will be transported to Shreveport for an autopsy report.
