SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - The mother of a Natchitoches Parish 6-month-old whose burned body was found back in July has pleaded not guilty to his murder. Hannah Nicole Barker, 22, was booked on July 25 and charged with first-degree murder in connection to the death of Levi Cole Ellerbe.
On July 18, authorities received a call that Ellerbe was taken from a home at the Mayberry Trailer Park. Baker told police that two unknown people came to her trailer and began beating on her door. She says she opened the door and was sprayed in the face with something she thought was mace.
She told police she ran away from the attackers and when she returned, her son was gone.
Officers began searching the area and called the Natchitoches Police Department, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office, Louisiana State Police and Northwestern State University Police Department.
Around 10:20 p.m., officers were notified about a fire on Breda Avenue. They arrived to discover a the baby, with obvious burns over his body.
He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, then airlifted to a hospital in Shreveport where he died from his injuries.
Baker’s next hearing is scheduled for February 25, 2019.
