Sorority shares books

TEXARKANA, AR (KSLA) - As a Texarkana school works to resupply its library with books, a local organization just gave them a step up.

Today leaders with the business women sorority Iota Phi Lambda donated a number of books to College Hill Elementary School to help replenish the library.

A couple of years back the library at the school in Texarkana lost about 2000 books damaged from mold.

Administrators here say the book count is gradually bouncing back.

“We will continue to donate books to the school until they replenish all the books they have lost,” said Diane Lollis, Iota Phi Lambda’s president"

School Librarian Jessica Bilbo said thanks to the efforts of the business women sorority the library is now have about 7000 titles.

"This is an amazing opportunity for our students not only to get their hands on some great literature but it also shows them they are an important part of our society," Bilbo said.

Bilbo added they are always open to donated books especially those that showcases different cultures.
