SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - The Salvation Army of Shreveport/Bossier City is working to help people have a bountiful Thanksgiving.
Every year volunteers prepare a feast with turkey, green bean casserole and other traditional foods. This year they plan on serving 1,200 meals.
“We begin collecting food in October and get to work a few days before Thanksgiving,” Head Chef Anne says. “It’s a great feeling inside when someone says thank you for their meal.”
Chef Anne also said it takes between 4,000 to 5,000 pounds of food to feed this many people. All the food is through donations from both people and companies.
Anyone is welcome to fellowship and enjoy the holiday. The food will be given out at the Salvation Army off of Stoner Avenue, starting at 10:30 AM.
